Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHARLES DAUBNEY COPELAND August 30, 1912 - September 26, 2003 I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course. I have kept the faith. On Friday, September 26 at Victoria General Hospital. Much loved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and loving husband; he is survived by his wife of over 60 years Helen (Pat) Copeland; his son Alan (Carol) and daughter Candy and many grandchildren; great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A Winnipeg native and Chief Petty Officer two ocean veteran of WWII RCNVR, he worked at Brigdens and was a co-founder of Progressive Colour Engraving and a past president of the Assiniboine Memorial Curling Club and co-owner of Flashing Stables. His life touched many others in this community. A memorial Mass to be held at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 2400 Portage Ave., at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 4. I am standing on the seashore. A ship spreads her white sails to the morning breeze, and starts for the ocean. She is an object of beauty, and I stand watching her until at last she fades on the horizon, and someone at my side says, "She is gone." "Gone where?" Gone from my sight, that is all. The loss of sight is in me, not in her, and just at that moment when someone says she is gone, there are others watching for her coming. Other voices take up the glad shout, "Here she comes!"
