HILDEBRAND June 19, 1904 - October 15, 2003 Altona, Manitoba The family of Jac Hildebrand announces his passing on October 15, 2003. He was predeceased by his wife Anne and daughter-in-law Betty. He is lovingly remembered by his children, Edwin (Jeanne), Elmer (Hilda) and Leona (Grant) plus grandchildren, Robin, Sandy, Kevin (Jackie) and Kurt (Tracy) and four great-grandchildren. Born in the Halbstadt area in 1904, Jac grew up on the family farm during the roaring 20s. The family was large - five sisters and five brothers. In the 30s, in the depth of the depression, he married Anne (nee Friesen) and then farmed till his retirement in 1976. During his farming years he started out working with horses and then retired as farm machinery got even larger. He served as trustee, and was involved with numerous agricultural organizations. After his retirement he continued to enjoy gardening and volunteering in the community. He was in good health for all his life. He enjoyed music, visiting, and seeing his four great-grandchildren. He had many, many friends who mourn his passing, but rejoice in his 99 years of life. If friends so desire, contributions can be made to Eastview Chaplaincy Fund, Altona, MB R0G 0B0. The funeral service will be held Saturday, October 18 at 11:00 a.m. from the Sommerfeld Mennonite Church in Altona, MB with interment to follow in the Gnadenfeld Cemetery.
