LORNE (LOR-AL) RACH June 13, 1944 - October 20, 2003 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Lorne Rach. With his family by his side, Lorne lost a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 59 at Concordia Hospital. Lorne will be sadly missed by his friends and family. To his wife Margaret, he was a sweetheart. He was not only her best friend and companion but her soul mate. Lornes children, Selina (Todd Forster), Rhonda (Greg Cayer) and Rob (Lisa Rosney) remember him as the perfect Dad. He was always there to guide them and teach them how to enjoy life. Lornes beloved grandson Tyler, was his pride and joy. Lorne encouraged Ty to persevere through lifes challenges. With open arms he welcomed into the family his newest stepgrandson Nicholas Cayer. Lorne leaves behind his mother, Mary (formerly of Glenmoore, MB) sisters, Beatrice (Ron McDougall), Irene (Bill Young), Betty (Lloyd Wyspanski), Edith (Alfred Kiesman) brothers, Allan (Marlene) and Dennis (Bernice), as well as many nieces and nephews. In-laws include Ida Spreen (mother-in-law), Louise (Joe Kennedy), Marlene (Mike Koral), Henry Spreen, Gerald Brown and Darryl Melnyk. Lorne was predeceased by his father Albert and father-in-law Martin Spreen and by good friends, Jack Thiessen, Al Melnychuk and Uncle Eldon. Lorne had a love for life. His greatest inspiration was his company Lor Al Construction, where he took great pride and care in his work. Many homes and drug stores will carry his expert work for years. Lorne loved to play and referee hockey as well as watch many sports on T.V. including baseball, football, golf and hockey. He loved doing jig-saw puzzles, crossword puzzles and Free Press Jumbles. His most relaxing time was spent at his cottage in Grand Marais where he loved to putter around the yard and keep the big campfire burning. A celebration of Lornes life will be held on Friday, October 24 at 1:30 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the reception centre. Following the reception, interment will be held at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Honorary pallbearers will be Allan, Dennis and Martin Rach, Richard Chrusch, Gerald Chartier, Gerry Katrick, Ernie Fey and Henry Spreen. The family would like to extend their warmest thanks and appreciation to Dr. Hugh Taylor, Dr. Wong, Dr. Maksymiuk and Dr. Duerksen, as well as Mona and Alison Lorimer, Marlene Meranski, nurses on 3rd floor Cancer Clinic and nurses at Concordia Hospital. Your kindness and support were greatly appreciated. Many thanks to our friends, neighbours and family. You were always there when we needed you No task too great or small With loving heart and a willing hand For all, you did them all Thanks for the years you gave us, And for the precious times we shared We only pray that when you left us You knew how much we cared God saw you getting tired, He put His arms around you And said "come unto Me" To live in hearts we leave behind Is not to die Fly free dear one KLASSEN Funeral Chapel 1897 Henderson - North of McIvor - 338-0331
