MARIE PROSKIN 1901 - 2003 Mom passed away peacefully at Park Manor Personal Care Home in Transcona on November 2, 2003, with three generations of family by her side. Mom was born in Sandy Lake, MB on April 25, 1901. She spent her early years in the area, married Dan, and the two of them tried their hand at farming and raising two children, Steve and Alice. After a few years we all moved to Elphinstone, where Mom and Dad spent a number of years in various businesses. When we kids moved to Winnipeg, Mom and Dad also moved to the city, where they owned a hotel and restaurant. Even after Dad passed away in 1977, Mom kept working at numerous jobs, but managed to find time to go to her bingo games, work in her garden and flower beds, and cook for herself and her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a source of great pride and joy. Mom is survived by her son Steve (Ann), from Minneapolis; and her daughter Alice from Winnipeg; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Dan; five brothers; and two sisters; and a son-in-law Ken. The family would like to thank the Park Manor Personal Care Home management and staff for the years of care and compassion they provided. Funeral service will be conducted by Father Michael Krochak on Thursday, November 6 at 1:00 p.m. from the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St. with burial at the Transcona Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations made in memory of Mom to Park Manor Personal Care home, or to a charity of your choosing. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
