GORDON RASMUSSEN On December 13, 2003, at the Riverview Health Centre, Gordon James Rasmussen left this life peacefully and with dignity, with family at his side. Gord leaves to lovingly remember him, his wife and best friend Nancy Faintuck, daughter Kisha and his mother Scotty Rasmussen. Sadly missing him are his brothers, Ed (Diana), Ken (Joanne) his sister Dianne (Paul Ewaschuk) his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Sonny and Sandra Smerek. His nephews, Myles, Mark, Justin, Jason, Benett, and Tyler will never forget "their Uncle Gord". He is also survived by his aunts and his many cousins. His precious little friends, Brutus and Lexi are surely missing him. He was predeceased by his father Hans Otto (Butch) his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Elsie and Peter Smerek; his sister Elaine; his sister-in-law Lorraine; his maternal and paternal grandparents, his uncles, numerous cousins; and first wife BettyLou Baros. Born November 19, 1950 in Gimli, MB, Gord was raised in St. Vital. He lived his life with courage and optimism; his many physical challenges never kept him from living life to the fullest. He was never, ever heard complaining about lifes trials and accepted whatever came his way. He showed all who knew him many life lessons, cherish the people you love and care about, never take life for granted, and that everyday of life is truly a gift! Dianne, thank you for being such a good friend to Gord and always being there for him. Special thanks to Alice Brown R.N., for her many friendly visits. Thanks to Maurice Ingram and Sam Gyryluk for the many morning coffee runs. Much appreciation to Dr. John Embil, Dr. David Rush, Dr. Jan Mulder for assisting Gord along lifes way. Heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Garcia and the nursing staff of 3 East-Palliative care at Riverview Health Centre for the tender care and comfort given Gord during his last day of life. No more pain... No more suffering... Free at last... Honoring his final wishes, cremation has taken place and no funeral service will be held. A private celebration of Gordons life will be held at a later date for family and friends.
