ETHEL KATHLEEN QUINN (nee FREEMAN) On Saturday, December 27, 2003, Mum passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side for her final journey. Ethel is survived by her daughters, Doris (Jack) and Kay (Ralph) sister Doris in Plymouth, England; granddaughter Tanya and family; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased nine months ago by her devoted husband Jim. Mum was born in Devonport, England on April 23, 1925. During the Second World War she met and married Jim and came to Canada as a war bride soon afterward. It was quite a lifestyle change for her moving to Transcona but she willingly embraced the challenges and joys. With Jim and his family to help her, she soon grew to love her new life. Ethel always remained very close to her family in England, writing letters and visiting with them many times throughout the years. One of Mums favourite places was their camp at Winnitoba. Many neighbours there and in Transcona became life long friends to our ∂family. Travel was also a large part of her life, whether going to England to be with family, spending time at their second home in Florida or venturing out with the group of friends from the CNRA. She led an active and full life but was always happiest to be at home. Mum was always full of life and had a great sense of humour. Dad never quite figured out that she was actually the boss of the family! She also had a practical side, loved to knit and sew and passed those loves on to both of her daughters. In the last few years of her life, Mums health declined and it was necessary to place her at Park Manor Personal Care Home. It was heartbreaking at first, but because of the wonderful staff there, Mum soon found herself surrounded by a new family. Thanks to them, she was able to live her last few years with a dignity and quality of life well beyond our expectations. A celebration of Ethels life was held on Friday, January 2, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Georges Anglican Church, 321 Pandora Ave. W. in Transcona (wheelchair accessible). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ethels memory to the Park Manor Personal Care Home, 301 Redonda St., Winnipeg, MB R2C 1L7, or to a charity of ones choice. Mum and Dad were a wonderful team And are now together again. "Youve done very well." WOJCIKS ALL BELIEFS & FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM 897-4665
