MARLO CRAIG THOMAS April 17, 1950 - January 2, 2004 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marlo Thomas. Marlo passed away at the age of 53 years old in Edmonton, AB. Marlo is survived by his loving wife Judy of 33 years; his daughters, Tamara, Natasha (Rick), Marsha (Kevin) his little man Mackenzie (grandson) and his little sweetheart Brooklynn (granddaughter) Marlo is also survived by his father Vernon (Nancy) his sisters, Nadine (Ken), Colleen (Bob), Cindy (Jim) brother Ian (Belinda) and many nieces, nephews and special friends. Marlo was predeceased by his mother Mary, brother Ferd, sister Margo. Marlo has always been known by family, friends and associates as a very hard working, honest and loyal person. His beautiful mind and huge heart made everyone around him feel safe and warm. There was not a selfish bone in his body and right up to his last breath he was concerned about the well being of everyone but himself. Marlo had a very successful career that began and ended with nothing but hard work. Marlo did not believe in failure and it was this attitude that made him the man we know and love. Marlo worked overseas for the past 12 years in the Oil and Gas Industry. After receiving his initial training in the oil industry from Mackenzie Valley Pipeline and Trans Mountain Pipeline in Canada, Marlo joined Gulf Canada in 1976. He worked for Gulf Canada in various positions and areas of Western Canada and Russia. In 1992 Marlo took the position in KomiArcticOil, a joint-venture with Gulf Canada and British Gas, as Manager of Operations and Construction where he worked until December 1996. In December 1996, Marlo left KomiArcticOil and joined the Sudanese State Petroleum Company as the Field Operations Manager in their South Central Sudan oil field development project where he worked until joining PetroKazakhstan Inc. Marlo was appointed Executive Vice President in October 2002. In addition, Marlo was President of PetroKazakhstan Kumkol Resources, a position he assumed on July 1, 1999 and President of PetroKazakhstan Oil Products, a position he has held since September 2000. When Marlo wasnt working he loved nothing better than to be surrounded by family and friends, sharing stories and enjoying all life had to offer. He loved fishing, hunting and camping, baseball and golfing, boating and sea-dooing. You were always guaranteed a smile when he dumped you off your water skies. Marlo will forever be remembered as the pillar that kept his family strong. He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather whos strength will remain with us always. If you knew Marlo Thomas, you are a better person because of it. Mackenzie, enjoy your chicken chips and a movie and Brooklynn dont forget to wash the feet. We love and miss you.
