ERNIE CHARLES "PAT" HAMP Ernie Charles "Pat" Hamp passed away at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital December 31, 2003. He has left to cherish his memory his loving wife of 63 years Elsa Jean (nee Williamson) daughter Verena (Jack) Moore, grandson Glen (Viv) Moore, great-granddaughter Melissa (Steve) Persuad, great-great granddaughter Delana Moore, great-granddaughter Ashley Moore, granddaughter Megan (Jeff) Cartman, great-grandson Aaron Cartman, all of Sudbury, ON; daughter Teresa (Charlie) Canfield, granddaughter Patricia (Don) Kozlowski, great-grandchildren, Michael, Sheridan, Mitchell and Jessica Kozlowski, all of Kenora, ON; grandson Nick Speek of Ottawa, ON; granddaughter Kathy (Dennis) Lantz; great-granddaughter Brittan Lantz of Kenora; son Ernie (Jocelyn) Hamp, grandson Kerry (Tanya) Hamp, great-grandson Kyle, granddaughter Valerie (Greg) Batenchuk, great-grandsons, Daimon and Greg Jr. Batenchuk, all of Winnipeg; sister Margeret Robertson of Vancouver, BC, niece Jean Barrs of Winnipeg. Also surviving are many other nieces and nephews. Pat served overseas from 1940 until l945. He returned to Winnipeg and became a licensed auto mechanic. In 1947 he and Elsa moved their family to Kenora. They settled on Rabbit Lake where they lived for the next 50 years, then to Park Place, Keewatin in 1998. Pat enjoyed his trade, was a member of Knox United Church, a Cub leader, and a 50 year member of the Kenora Legion Branch No. 12. He spent his leisure time with family and friends skating, playing hockey (Killer Hamp), ice car racing, fishing, hunting, gardening, and being a good neighbour. Funeral service to be held Wednesday, January 7, at 1:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, Kenora. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. BROWN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTRE ENTRUSTED WITH ARRANGEMENTS.
