REV. HAROLD J. BEDFORD S. J. At Centenary Health Centre, Scarborough, ON on Tuesday, January 6, 2004, one day after his 98th birthday and in the 81st year of his religious life. Fr. Harold was the beloved son of William H. and Agnes (nee Howard) Bedford. He is survived by his sister-in-law Audrey Bedford of Windsor and by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Howard, Gerald, Rita, Laureta Crawford, Leola Barth and Bernice Lafontaine. Fr. Bedford served for 30 years as chaplain at Stoney Mountain Penitentiary in Manitoba and 10 years at the Old City Hall Courts in Toronto. In his elder years he assisted at Holy Rosary Parish in Milton and later at Our Lady of Lourdes in Toronto. Friends may call at the Rosar-Morrison Funeral Home and Chapel, 467 Sherbourne St. (south of Wellesley Street), Toronto, Thursday, January 8 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and at the Manresa Renewal Centre, 2325 Liverpool Rd. North, Pickering, Thursday, January 8 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Manresa Renewal Centre Chapel on Friday, January 9 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Jesuit Cemetery, Guelph at 3:00 p.m. In memory of Fr. Bedford, donations may be made to the Fr. Harold Bedford Memorial Scholarship, in care of Jesuit Development Office, 1325 Bay St., Suite 200, Toronto, ON M5R 2C4.
