GERDA BERRES (PETERS) 1941 - 2004 Suddenly at her residence, after a long battle with cancer, on Sunday, January 11, 2004, Gerda Berres aged 62 years, passed away. Gerda was born in Meerbusch, Germany in 1941. On February 12, 1963, Gerda married Horst Berres and together they had two daughters Tanja and Verena. In 1971 they came to Canada and bought a home in Winnipeg, MB. In 1988 they moved to St. Martin, MB, where together they bought Ridgeway Lunch & Service. They continued to run their business until February of 2000. Gerda enjoyed living at the lake and gardening until her untimely death on January 11, 2004. She leaves to mourn her two daughters Tanja and husband Ken Madsen and Verena and husband Sean McDougall; granddaughters, Brandy, Stephanie and Jessica; sisters, Inge, Ulla and Ute, all from Germany. She was predeceased by her husband Horst in 2000 and her mother in 1999. In accordance with Gerdas wishes, cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will be held at a later date at the Davis Point Cemetery.
