Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJENNETTE EILEEN MARIE RALSTON (nee FORTNEY) January 6, 1944 - January 31, 2004 It is with profound sadness that we the family of Jennette Ralston announce her sudden passing on Saturday, January 31, 2004. Left to mourn her passing are her husband Ron and their dog Munch; mother-in-law Evelyn; brother Don; sisters-in-law, Eleanor and Vera Fortney and Diane (Ken) McCubbin; her aunt and uncle, George and Joy; nine nieces and nephews and their spouses; nine great-nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins and close friends. Jennette was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Marie; her father-in-law George; her brothers, Alan, Joe and Ed; her sisters-in-law, Doris and Pat; and her nephew Robbie; and her niece Shelly. Jennette was born in Winnipeg and grew up in the Woodroyd area. In 1963 she commenced her career with the Department of Motor Vehicles and worked there for 36 years, happily retiring in 1998. Concurrently, Jennette was also the primary caregiver for her mom Marie after her fathers death until her moms passing in 1994. In 1994, her longtime friend Ron re-entered her life and together they fought through her battle with colon cancer, which she ultimately won. Jennette married Ron in a beautiful and meaningful ceremony in September 2000 and they had a wonderful life together right up to her passing. There was always laughter and music and love in their home during any gathering of her friends and family, whether large or small. Jennette was the family resource of our heritage and history. She drew people to her with her warmth and friendliness. She had a lot of wisdom to share with everyone, and it was delivered with her typical good humour and genuine concern for all of the people who touched her life. Jennette was so many things to so many people. To Ron, she was an angel walking on earth, and his best friend. To her dog Munchie, she was Mom. Jennette spoiled her dog rotten. To the rest of her family and friends, she was their confidante and the best friend you could ask for. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 7 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Reception to follow after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Diabetes Association or Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division. Death is nothing at all - I have only slipped away into the next room. Whatever we were to each other, that we still are. Call me by my old familiar name, speak to me in the easy way in which you always did. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without effort. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was. There is absolute unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of your mind because I am out of your sight? I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner. All is well. Nothing is past, nothing is lost. One brief moment and all will be as it was before - only better, infinitely happier and forever. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
