RUTH SCHAFER 1918 - 2004 Ruth Schafer died, peacefully, on Friday February 6, 2004, at the Riverview Health Centre, after a long illness. She was predeceased by her husband David and her six older siblings (Rose, Fanny, Norman, Sophie, Bert and Dorothy). She is survived by her three sons and their wives, children and grandchildren: sons, Arthur (Jennifer), Natan (Channah), and Barry (Bobbi), grandchildren, Joshua, Jessica (Chris) and Alex, Pella, Uriel (Robin), Feivel (Tzipporah), Reena (Yoav) and Shayna, Daniel and Sarah, great-grandchildren, Solomon, Rio and Eliyahu. Except for the first few years of her marriage, spent in Montreal, Ruth lived her entire life in Winnipeg. As a young woman she taught the piano, but with the birth of her children (and later of her grandchildren), her family became the centre of her life. She was kind and gentle. Her family knew her as a loving and supportive mother and grandmother. Her love was unbounded and unconditional. She will be hugely missed by her family, who treasure her memory. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 9 at Chesed Shel Emes Chapel, 1023 Main Street, with burial to follow at Shaarey Zedek cemetery. The Shiva will be held on Monday and Tuesday at 946 Dorchester Ave. The family would like to offer special thanks to the staff at the Victoria Hospital and Riverview Health Centre for the wonderful care and support they provided to Ruth during this past year.
