JEANNE S. THOMAS It is with great sadness that we announce the untimely passing on February 29, 2004 of Jeanne S. Thomas, beloved wife of Jim Thomas, and mother of James Blake (J.B.) Thomas, of Winnipeg. Jeanne was born on January 9, 1947 in Macklin, SK to Mary and Chris Olsvik. Jeanne grew up and was educated of Lloydminster, SK. After a short stay in New York, Jeanne came to live with her sister Frances and brother-in-law Earl Wenzel in Two Hills, AB, where she met and later married Jim in April 1969. Jeanne began her banking career in Two Hill with the Bank of Montreal, later transferred to Wainwright, AB, then Winnipeg, where she rose to position of Manager of Banking Operations, and retired in January 2001. Jeanne was an avid gardener and golfer, but more particularly enjoyed being with her family and friends, especially her beloved Cricket. Jeanne is also survived by her sister Fran Wenzel (Earl) of Marsden, SK; brothers, Don Olsvik (Susan) of Kelowna, BC, Ken Olsvik (Barbara) of Calgary, Lorne Olsvik (Caroline) of Onaway, AB, Barry Olsvik (Linda) of Vancouver Island, BC; brother-in-law Bruce Thomas (Joyce) and sister-in-law Joyce Newcombe; and mother-in-law Helen Thomas of Winnipeg; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Jeannes family would especially like to thank Dr. Ian Maxwell, and nurses, Anne Anderson, Bonnie Persowich, Astrid Prosyk and Penny Williams, of the Victoria Hospital Oncology Unit for their kindness, also, staff of the Victoria Hospital Emergency Unit, especially Pat Hailey for her compassion. Following cremation, a celebration of Jeannes life will be held on Thursday, March 4 at 11:00 a.m. in Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. Private family interment will follow at a later date.
