Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJEANNE THERESE PURTILL JULY 11,1935 - MAY 11, 2004 With her family by her side, Jeanne peacefully passed away at the Health Sciences Centre on Tuesday, May 11, 2004, after a brief illness. Jeanne leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 46 years, Syl, and children, Mike (Robin), Mitch (Gail), Lise (Scott), Bruce (Janet) and her six grandchildren, Kara, Scott, Justin, Nicole, Erin and Braden. Mom was an educator and spent most of her 30 plus year career teaching in the Transcona/Springfield School Division. She graduated from the Manitoba Normal School in 1954, received her Bachelor of Education Degree from the University of Manitoba in 1977 and her Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1987, majoring in literature and language. Mom was a very kind and generous person. This is reflected in the many wonderful friends that mom has made throughout her life. Moms giving nature allowed her to be a wonderful wife, mother, sister, nana and friend. She judged no one and always looked for the good in others. Since moms retirement, she thrived on keeping active especially learning new things. She kept her mind active almost as much as her body, learning to play different instruments and mastering new computer technology. Mom loved to sew, garden, golf, clog, walk, curl and travel, but most of all she loved spending time with her family, which we will cherish forever. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of the Health Sciences Centre and the Concordia Hospital for their compassion during this difficult time. Most importantly, thanks to our family and friends for their wonderful support during moms hospitalization. We would like to invite family and friends to a gathering celebrating moms life on Monday, May 17 at 1:00 p.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day Street with Rev. Bill Blaikie officiating. A memorial donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of ones choice, would be an appreciated tribute to moms generous, thoughtful nature. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
