Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJESSIE RAMSAY (nee HILL) December 19, 1913 - May 14, 2004 With great sadness we announce the death of Jessie Ramsay, at the age of 90. Jessie was born in Brandon and moved to Winnipeg at an early age. She grew up in the north end and graduated from St. Johns High School. Her husband Harvey (1973), daughter Lorri-Jean (1983), dear friend Archie Stewart (1994), three brothers, John, Bruce and Howard, and many of her contemporaries predeceased Jessie. Jessie is survived by daughters, Janice Lander (Edmonton), Bobbie White (Garry Boitson), son Glen (Surrey) as well as daughter-in-law Jinelyn (Surrey). Her grandchildren, Deanna (France), Brian (Oxford House), Donna and Brenna (Surrey), Cory and Cheryll (Ottawa), Stephen (Winnipeg) and four great-grandchildren also survive her. Jessie had a passion for living and was full of energy. A descendant of the Warners who helped settle the Prairies, she enthusiastically contributed to the narrative of the Warner history for a family reunion. Jessie enjoyed bingo, darts, shuffleboard and curling. She maintained a love of bowling, which she participated in until her death. Working most of her adult life and into her 70s, she was a dedicated employee of Eatons during the war and later Zellers (Gambles/McLeods). She gave exemplary service to the ANAF since 1964. From 1970-1983, she served the Ladies Auxiliary of the Rockwood ANAF on the Executive. Jessie also held many positions on the Provincial Command from 1970-1985. She became a member of the Mens Unit in 1985 and an affiliate member in 1992. The Ladies Auxiliary awarded her a life membership in honour of her service. Despite her failing eyesight, she remained tenaciously independent. She lived in her own home until two years ago when she moved to Lions Manor. There she participated in the many activities including the Red Hat Society. Memorial service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 18, 2004 at Harrow United Church, 955 Mulvey Ave., Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jessies memory to the CNIB, 1080 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, R3G 3M3.
