BARBARA JUDITH SCOTT BROOKS (nee DEYMAN) Surrounded by her family, Barb passed away peacefully on Friday, May 28, 2004 at the Riverview Health Centre. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Gary, her daughter Lauren, her sister Kathy (husband Wade Osipa and nephew Andrew) and brother Rob (nephew Michael). Born in Ottawa on December 16, 1947, Barbs family moved to Winnipeg in 1959. Barb graduated from Teachers College to pursue a career in teaching. After several years in a classroom Barb realized that teaching was not her calling. Barb pursued other career interest with the Department of Education and Statistics Canada before choosing her life with Gary. Barb married Gary in 1980 and they were blessed with Lauren in April 1985. Barb will be remembered for her fighting spirit having successfully battled cancer for almost 25 years. She will also be remembered for her quick wit, humour, beauty and grace. Barb loved to share her life with her family, bargain hunt with her sister in Grand Forks, spend time in her garden, find outrageously funny cards to send to her brother out east and spoil her three dogs. Barb was predeceased by her parents, Thomasina (Zena) and Irwin (Hank). A private family service will be held at Brookside Cemetery. Barbs family is very appreciative for the care and compassion of the staff at CancerCare Manitoba and the Riverview Health Centre, Palliative Care Unit. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Barb to the CancerCare Manitoba, 109-675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3E 0V9.
