DERRY JACKSON CARDEY June 14, 1946 - August 4, 2004 It is with love and heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Derry, who fought a long and courageous battle with cancer at the age of 58 years on August 4, 2004 at the St. Boniface Hospital. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 36 years, Marjorie (nee Klimchuk), his daughter Jill of Winnipeg and son Jeff of Toronto. He is also survived by his brother Tom; his sisters, Christine Andrest, Linda Robinson, Georgina Kirkpatrick and Lillian Semyroz; his brothers-in-law, Fr. Walter Klimchuk, John and Pearl Klimchuk; and his mother-in-law Christine Klimchuk. He was predeceased by his mother Nancy and his father George. Derry was a dedicated husband and partner in life and a wonderful father who taught his children the importance of family and instilled in them his life values. His perfectionism and strong work ethic and his love for people shaped his character. Throughout his illness for 12 years, he stayed strong and determined and was an inspiration to all who knew him. During his working career with Formica, Division of Cyanamed Canada and Weiser Inc., he developed many friendships and cherished these relationships. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 7 at 10:30 a.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint), with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens and a reception will follow in the reception centre.
