JOAN ELIZABETH PORTER On Thursday, August 19, 2004, Joan Elizabeth Porter passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 82 years. Joan is survived by her daughter Sylvia Alexus; son-in-law Leonard; grandchildren, Corey (Jen), Carl and Shannon; great-grandson Eric; sister-in-law Vi Morris; nieces, Valerie (Owen), Kathleen and Sheila; and great-nephews, Michael, Nicholas and Christopher Cullingham. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Kate Morris and also a brother Ronald Morris. Joan was born June 11, 1922 in Winnipeg, grew up there and lived there for most of her life. She worked as a secretary for various firms, her last position before retiring was with the City of Winnipeg. Thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at the St. Boniface Hospital, as well as the home care staff for the care you provided. A special thank you to friend Eleanor White and the residents of 64 Nassau for making mum feel so welcome. A family graveside service has been held and followed by a celebration of her life at 64 Nassau St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joans memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB R2L 9Z9.
