ALFRED GEORGE THOM "RED" Peacefully on October 24, 2004, Alfred George Thom passed away at Misericordia Hospital at the age of 81. Left to cherish his memory are eight children, Gary (Sherry) of British Columbia, June, Eric (Tatyana), Michael, Brian (Brenda) of Regina, Kathy (Glen), Bernard (Moira), Carole (Leon) "Maddog" of Saskatchewan; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law Gloria; sister Irene (Cecil) and brother Leonard; close companion Jean; and numerous nieces and nephews. Alfred is predeceased by his wife Kay, grandson Shannon, and brother Stanley. Alfred was born in Winnipeg, July 4, 1923 and joined the army in 1943. He was in England during the Second World War, married Kathleen and had their first child there. After moving back to Canada, they settled in Thunder Bay and raised their eight children, where Alfred worked with the CPR for 25 years. The family moved back to Winnipeg in 1972. He enjoyed having his family around him, and the sound of childrens laughter. Thank you to the staff at Misericordia Hospital for all they have done for our father. A very special thanks to CDJS. Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 27, at 11:30 a.m., at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Alfreds memory to Alzheimer Society of Manitoba and Parkinson Foundation. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
