JOSEPH-SARTO) Soeur Alice, missionnaire a Goma au Congo, en Afrique est decedee a lhopital de Nairobi au Kenya le 27 octobre 2004. Elle etait age de 69 ans. Il y a 51 ans depuis son entree chez les Missionnaires Oblates de St-Boniface. Alice est nee le 28 mars 1935 a Ile-des-Chenes, MB., la quinzieme enfant de Joseph Trudeau et dAlexina Bouvier. Soeur Alice enseigna pendant quinze ans au Manitoba, en Saskatchewan et en Alberta. Plus tard elle donna des retraites et fit de laccompagnement spirituelle pendant plusieurs annees. En 1981 elle fut elue superieure generale de la Congregation pour deux mandats consecutifs. Puis en 1989 elle eut le privilege de poursuivre son ideal cheminer avec toute personne desireuse de se decouvrir et de grandir a travers une formation axee sur le developpement humain et integral de la personne. Pendant trois ans elle suivit des cours a lInstitut de Formation Humaine Integrale de Montreal fondee par Jeannine Guindon. En aout 1994 elle se dirigea vers lAfrique pour aider les personnes victimes du genocide du Rwanda. Elle y a oeuvre jusquen octobre 2004, lorsquelle fut frappe dune attaque dapoplexie qui la emportee. Je cite ici les paroles de reconnaissance dAlice, "Je suis tres reconnaissante a mes parents pour le don precieux de la vie et de tous ses bienfaits. A tous ceux et celles qui mont aimee si gratuitement tout au long de mon chemin, je dis "Merci" et je vous garde dans mon coeur". Soeur Alice laisse dans le deuil les membres de sa communaute religieuse; une soeur Marie-Jeanne (Leo Trudeau) deux freres, Bernard (Helene Hogue) et Alphonse (Annette Faucher) un beau-frere Arthur Rioux; et belles soeurs, Emma Gagnon-Trudeau et Patricia Savignac-Trudeau; de nombreux neveux, nieces, petits-neveux, petites-nieces et ami.e.s. Elle fut precedee au paradis par sa mere, Alexina en 1944, son pere Joseph en 1947; son frere Armand et epouse Antonia St-Laurent; sa soeur, Marie-Ange et son epoux Eugene Rioux; sa soeur Leontine Rioux; son frere Gerard; sa soeur Rolande; son frere Victor; sa soeur Therese et son epoux Conrad Lambert; son frere Lucien; ainsi que les jeunes bebes, Joseph, Julesbertine et Marie. Il y aura une messe commemorative vendredi, le 5 novembre a 19 h 30 en la chapelle des Missionnaires Oblates au 601 rue Aulneau, St-Boniface, MB. Le Pere Arthur Masse, omi, presidera la celebration. Chere Alice, avec toi nous disons et redisons notre "merci" pour qui tu as ete pour chacune de nous et pour la Congregation. SISTER ALICE TRUDEAU (S. JOSEPH-SARTO) Sister Alice Trudeau, missionary in Goma, Africa, passed away in Nairobi in Kenya on October 27, 2004. She was 69 years old. Alice entered the Congregation of the Missionary Oblate Sisters of St. Boniface 51 years ago. She was born on March 28, 1935 in Ile-des-Chenes, MB, the youngest of 15 children of Joseph Trudeau and Alexina Bouvier. Alice taught for 15 years in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and in Alberta. During many years she directed retreats and accompanied people in their spiritual growth. In 1981, she was elected Superior General of her Congregation where she served for two consecutive mandates. In 1989 she had the privilege of pursuing her vision of accompanying people who were desirous of discovering themselves. During three years she received specialized training at an Institute in Montreal. In August 1994 she readily accepted to go to Africa to help the victims of the Rwanda genocide. She worked diligently until October 2004 when she suffered two strokes which caused her death. I quote Alices words of appreciation: "I am so grateful to my parents for the precious gift of life and all what this has given me. To all who have loved me so gratuitously throughout my journey, I say "Thank you" and I keep you all in my love." Alice leaves to mourn the members of her religious Congregation; one sister, Marie-Jeanne (Leo Trudeau) two brothers, Bernard (Helene Hogue) and Alphonse (Annette Faucher) one brother-in-law Arthur Rioux; and two sisters-in-law, Emma Gagnon-Trudeau and Patricia Savignac-Trudeau; also many nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces and friends. She was predeceased by her mother Alexina (1944) and her father Joseph (1947) her brother Armand and his wife Antonia St. Laurent; her sister Marie-Ange and husband Eugene Rioux; her sister Leontine Rioux; her brother Gerard; her sister Rolande; her brother Victor; her sister Therese and husband Conrad Lambert; brother Lucien and also Joseph, Julesbertine and Marie who passed away at a very young age. There will be a commemorative mass on Friday, November 5 at 7:30 p.m. in the chapel of the Missionary Oblate Sisters, 601 Aulneau St., St. Boniface, MB. Fr. Arthur Masse, omi, will be officiating. Dear Alice, we thank you so sincerely, for who you have been for all whom you have touched by your life of love, of service and of dedication. Forever you will be remembered.
