J. MICHAEL POIRIER (MITCH) Peacefully, on Friday, November 12, 2004, Michael passed away at the Health Sciences Centre, at the age of 77. He leaves to cherish his memory his sisters, Angeline Mager and Therese (Archie) Voyer; one brother John (Flora) Poirier; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Born in Lorette, MB, Michael moved to Winnipeg with his family at an early age. He attended Provencher School then began to work, first for CN and later as a power engineer for the Federal Civil Service. He was an active third degree member of the Knights of Columbus (Council No. 0370) and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Uncle Mitch was a soft-spoken, kind, generous, very private and independent man. He loved to spend time at his summer place, fishing, entertaining family and friends and enjoying the beauty of the outdoors. His quiet humour and easy smile will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Ave. on Wednesday, November 17 with Fr. Sam Argenziano presiding. Interment and reception will follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. The Poirier family would like to thank Michaels special friend Doris Pahl for her kindness to him during his illness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Michaels memory to CancerCare Manitoba, 1160-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
