Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDWARD PHILIP RATHGEBER Edward Philip Rathgeber, beloved husband of wife Elsie (nee Rangno) and loving father to his daughter Arlene (Clenard) and son Don, passed away peacefully at the Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg on Thursday, November 18, 2004 at the age of 91 years. His daughter-in-law Leslie, grandchildren Alan and David, sister Mat Gauer, numerous nieces and nephews further survive Edward. He was predeceased by his sister Mary and three brothers, Arthur, Jack and Karl. Edward was born in Brandon, Manitoba and moved to Winnipeg in the 1930s where he began a very successful business career with Western Grocers (now Westfair Foods Ltd.), being appointed President and Chief Executive Officer in 1968. He retired in 1973. Edward also had many personal interests. Among these, he was an enthusiastic outdoorsman and nature lover, played golf avidly and well, enjoyed woodworking and had a private pilots license. Particular passions were his cottage life at Sandy Hook and cruise-line travelling. He often said You know, Ive had a wonderful life! Most importantly, he was a devoted, loving, and faithful husband to Elsie throughout their 68 years of marriage, a wonderful father to Arlene and Don, and a steadfast support to all of his family members. Friends and family will remember him as a true gentleman, who was reliable, fair, honest, and generous and with a fine sense of humour. Per Edwards wishes, there will be no funeral service. Considered donations should be made to the charity of your choice. BARDAL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIUM 843 Sherbrook Street, 774-7474 Condolences: www.bardal.ca
