JOSEPHINE MARIE POPIEL The family of Josephine Popiel, with great sadness, wish to announce her sudden and unexpected passing at her home in Winnipeg on Monday, December 13, 2004. Josephine is survived by her son Phillip, his children, Jonathan and Lindsey; her daughter-in-law Gisele and her children, Andre, Jean-Paul and Monique, along with great-grandchildren Jaden and Dylan; her brother Walter Zywine of Hamilton, and also many nieces and nephews of Hamilton and Winnipeg are left to mourn her passing. She was predeceased by her husband Edward, in 1968 and son Chris in 2003; as well as her daughter-in-law Valerie in 1994; her brothers, Peter Zywine of Winnipeg and Mike and Frank Zywine have also preceded her into God's kingdom as had her father John in 1968 and mother Emilia in 1924. As well as raising and caring for her own family, Mom, along with Dad offered caring and lodging to many extended family members in their home over the years. She had worked in the Eaton Mail Order building for several years before moving on to the Winnipeg School Division Library Service Centre until the tender age of 75, when she fully retired. She was an active member of the St. John Cantius Society and the Canadian Polish Athletic Club for most of her life, as well as numerous other senior programs in the North End, travelling here and there with them. We will all miss her care, cheer and friendship dearly. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 18 at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with Rev. Msgr. Stan Jaworski officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made in Josephine's memory to a group or charity of your choice, such as the Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Winnipeg Humane Society etc. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
