Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES LESLIE CURTIS James Curtis, of Sidney, BC, formerly of Marathon, ON; born in Winnipeg, June 21, 1917, he passed away at home in Sidney on December 27, 2004, at the age of 87. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving family, wife Betty of Victoria; his daughter Mary and son Bill (Lesley) of Winnipeg; grandsons, Michael of Toronto and Kevin of Ottawa. He is survived by his brother Archie (Ruby) of Winnipeg; and was predeceased by his brother Edward (Mary) in 1992. A graduate of the University of Manitoba, Jim and Betty were married in Valleyfield, PQ, in 1941 where Jim worked as a research chemist for Canadian Defense Industries during the war. In Marathon he managed the chemical plant for American Can Co. and was involved, amongst other things, with the Lions Club, home and school and United Church. In 1979 he and Betty retired to Sidney. He continued his involvement with the Lions Club as an active member until shortly before his death. He enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. Above all, however, he enjoyed intellectual pursuits, whether it was at a bridge table, or reading about science and cosmology. A memorial service was held at St. Paul's United Church, 2410 Malaview Ave. in Sidney, on Friday, January 7, 2005.
