ADALSTEINN (AL) EYTHOR THORSTEINSON July 9, 1923 - January 24, 2005 Al passed away from heart failure at St. Boniface Hospital. He had recently been residing at Beacon Hill Lodge in Winnipeg. The only son of Jon and Disa Thorsteinson of Geysir, MB, both deceased, Al was also predeceased by sisters, Maria (Nordal), Julianna Julie (Halldorson) and Fjola Joan (Penwarden). He is survived by daughter Linda (Ward); granddaughter Andrea; niece Marlene Taylor; and nephews, Richard and Clifford Nordal and Ron Halldorson. Al spent his working life in the Arborg area where he was a farmer with a great love for the land he tilled. He was known to his friends as Beaver, a nickname he acquired because of his reputation as a hard worker. He loved music, especially the romantic variety, and was prone to burst into song without warning which could sometimes be startling to those around him! Throughout his life Al was an avid reader with a special interest in history. Although he struggled in later years, friends will remember a man who was honest, kind and generous - a person with a zest for life and a loyal friend. Persons wishing to pay their respects might consider a memorial donation to the Salvation Army (Booth Centre), 55 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 1L8, or by phone at 1-800-725-2769. The family would like to express their appreciation to the Booth Centre staff who provided a home for Al for so many years. Gone but not forgotten, Al will be fondly remembered by his many friends. Cremation has taken place.
