SOPHIE TOFFAN (nee SMITZNUK) It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Sophie Toffan on Saturday, February 5, 2005 at the age of 85. Sophie was born in Krasne, SK on January 30, 1920 and married Alex Toffan on October 26, 1941. They owned a farm in Holar District near Elfros, SK for several years and moved to Winnipeg in 1954. Sophie was predeceased by her parents, five brothers and five sisters. Her husband Alex, passed away in 1981. Sophie leaves to mourn her passing three sons, Eddy (Jeannette), Don (Sylvia) and Barry, all of Winnipeg; two daughters, Sylvia Hein (Edward) of Edmonton and Darlene Toffan of Winnipeg; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother Alex of Calgary; and many nieces and nephews. Over the past several years, Sophie developed a very special relationship with the Walter Czwartacki family. We would like to thank Dr. Gorski, Dr. Harrison, the staff at Concordia Hospital and all other people involved for the care given to our mother. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 9 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. with Fr. N. Yakiwchuk officiating. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery.
