LORRAINE RAYMOND (nee GROUETTE) Peacefully on Wednesday, February 9, 2005, after a courageous fight with cancer, our beloved wife, mother and grandmother Lorraine Doreen Raymond passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, at the age of 70 years. Lorraine is lovingly survived by her husband Yves of 52 years; daughters, Gisele (Trevor Hutchinson), Jeannie (Chris Gatien) and Michelle (Barry Strike); son Claude; grandchildren, Andrea, Lindsay, Ashley, Chelsey, Kerry, Cody and Dylan. She is also survived by one sister Helene Grouette. She was predeceased by her parents Andre and Sarah Grouette; one brother Joe; and by one sister Mona LaPlante. Mom's greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren. She had an adventurous spirit, and enjoyed the many trips she went on, most recently to Mexico, where she was already set to visit again. She was a wonderful cook, and enjoyed making ceramics and trying her luck at bingo. After retiring from Eaton's, Mom looked forward to her monthly coffee group when she was able to continue enjoying the many friendships she made with her former co-workers. Perhaps the greatest gift she has left behind was her unwavering faith, courage, and determination, which carried her through her battle with cancer. She will be dearly missed. A special thank you is extended to the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, for their compassionate care given to our mother, but also to us, who stood by her side. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Funeral mass will be held on Monday, February 14 at 11:00 a.m. with prayers at 10:45 a.m. at St. Vital Church, 1629 Pembina Hwy., Rev. Fr. Patrick Morand will be the celebrant. A private family interment will follow in Holy Angel Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Boniface Hospital Research Foundation, Cancer Research Fund, 409 Tache Ave., Room D1003, Winnipeg, MB R2H 2A6.
