HERBERT QUECK Years of long, long illness and much suffering, God wrapped His arms around Herbert, aged 74 years, and took him home. At the Grace Hospital, March 9, 2005, with deep sadness, his wife was near by. Herbert will be lovingly remembered by his wife Agnes, one son in Winnipeg, two sisters and one brother in Germany, cousins and friends across Canada and USA. Herbert was born in Germany and came to settle in Canada in 1952. Life was a struggle with Herbert as he knew no English. He got jobs where there was German speaking managers. He went to night school to learn English. Few years later he got the job at Standard Aero and stayed for 36 years. With a lot of hard work and determination life became easier for him. Herbert was a very generous man who was ready to give a helping hand to relatives and friends. He enjoyed fishing trips with the men at Standard Aero, bowling, travelling and dancing. Every year at Oktoberfest he had to do the German polkas. He travelled to Germany many times to visit family and friends, travelled across Canada and parts of the USA. Many thanks to the staff of Home Care who came to the house every day to attend to Herbert and many thanks go to the staff at the Grace Hospital for all their care. Funeral service 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 15 at Bardal Funeral Chapel, 843 Sherbrook St. God saw you getting tired, When a cure was not to be. So He closed His arms around you And whispered, Come to Me . You did not deserve what you went through, So He took you home to rest. God's garden must be beautiful For He only takes the best. • I just found this "Nachruf" for Herbert, while touring with the Helios Theater (Hamm, Germany) through Canada. We perform in Montreal, Trois Reviere and Toronto. I think a lot of my uncle Herbert here, remembering him well visiting my family in Düsseldorf, we always had a very happy time together. As a kid, I liked his description of the life in Canada a lot, going fishing in the great nature, working as a mechanic for aircraft motors.
