PHYLLIS (DILLY) RADLINSKY It is with deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of our mom, Phyllis, on March 8, 2005 at Riverview Health Centre. She was called to heaven to be with her beloved husband John and precious daughter Deborah as well as her sisters, Nettie and Sylvia; brothers, Tony, Alec, Angus, Clement and Mike. She is survived by her son David (Kim); grandchildren, Matthew and Kelsey; her son Dennis (Lisa); granddaughters, Ashley and Emily and grandson Christopher. Also left to mourn are her brothers and sisters, Olga, Helen, Ann, Sonia, Ted, Ivan, Barry and Lawrence, also many nephews and nieces. Phyllis was born in Rossburn, MB and grew up in Mears, MB. After she married John, they then moved to Winnipeg. Mom had a number of rewarding retail positions including Eaton's Downtown and Mariposa Garden City. Her most rewarding and challenging position was to make our house a home. Summers where filled with berry picking outings, two-mile walks in Kildonan Park, coffee at MacDonald's and the odd Shooting Star Trip with Shirley and Mooney. At the age of 50, she decided to get her driver's licence and learned to swim at 54 years old. In getting her wheels she often went to the farm and gladly helped her less mobile brothers and sisters with daily chores and appointments. After learning to swim, she became an accomplished swimming instructor at the North YMCA. Her gift of patience and compassion glowed while teaching special needs children how to swim. Her second home was St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church with perogy bees, UCWLC meetings and functions, Welcome Home, visiting the sick and a Shrine Attendant. She felt at most peace and comfort while guiding visitors to the Blessed Vasyl Velychkovsky Shrine. Mother never emotionally recovered from the loss of our sister Debbie. She was pulled down deeper with sorrow after the loss of Big John , her husband of 45 years. The weight of these events affected her terribly for the rest of her life. Her outward free spirit and humour was tempered continuously by the pain in her heart. Dilly seemed to be the only compassionate ear for her many brothers and sisters. Listening endlessly while giving little input about her own celebrations, sorrow or opinions. Mom wrote countless poems, shorts stories and prayers in order to gain strength to face her personal struggles. Her entries where filled with recollection of family events and celebrations. The burden of the world is lifted and she is now with the angels. No Cares, No Worries. Special thanks to Auntie Sonia, Stella Olson (Riverview), Fr. Dmytro and our many friends and family members who helped us through this difficult time. Prayers will be held on Sunday, March 13 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 250 Jefferson Ave. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Monday, March 14 at 10:00 a.m. also at St. Joseph's with a Redemptorist Father officiating. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Pallbearers are Gregg Derlago, Wayne Derlago, Rick Chuckree, Bruce Kahler, Stanley Yaskiw and Godson Byron Mueller. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Phyllis' memory to the Building Fund , St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 250 Jefferson Ave. Winnipeg, MB R2V 0M6. We Love You and Miss You Always.
