MARIA THERESA SAN JOSE (THESS) (nee BALMES), the beloved wife of Val, passed away on March 11, 2005 after a difficult illness, in the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 45 years. She will be sadly missed by her husband Val; her two sons, Kevin and Ryan; her parents, Ruben and Lucila Balmes; brothers, Mando (Nellie) Balmes, Rod (Florence) Balmes, Lito (Kathy) Balmes, Jay (Sally) Balmes, Arnie (Janice) Balmes; sister Nelisa (Ey) Bantugan. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Nelia Balmes; Val's brothers, Danny (Mercy) San Jose and Nick (Cecil) of the Philippines, Jack (Nene) of Saudi Arabia, Achie (Lucy) of Saudi Arabia; Val's sisters, Gloria (Nanding) De Leon, Ariet (Tony) Villena of the Philippines, Celia (Fred) Cirilo of the Phillipines, Vicky (Boy) Pascual, of the Philippines; Val's father Val Sr.; her numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends, both in Canada and the Philippines. Thess will also be missed by her cousin and close friend Odet Ciabal; her aunt Lina (Benny) Torrejos and numerous Kumares and Kumpares. Thess was predeceased by her brothers, Narding and Bonjing and by her mother-in-law Arcadia. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff of the St. Boniface Hospital for the excellent care given to Thess during her time there. Lamay and viewing will be held between 7:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m. on Thursday and Friday, March 17 and 18 at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 19 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Edwards Roman Catholic Parish, 836 Arlington St., with the Rev. Fr. Vicente Tungolh the celebrant. Interment and reception will take place at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home and Cemetery following the mass.
