Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWALLY RATHERT Peacefully, after a courageous struggle, on April 7, 2005, at the St. Boniface Hospital, our dear dad, grandpa and great-grandpa passed away at the age of 79 years. Left to mourn his loss and celebrate his life are his children, Gail (Ken) Van Wynsberghe and Carol Herkert; his grandchildren, Michelle (Mark), Allison (Keith), Tara-Lea (Dion) and Jamie; great-grandchildren, Dakota, Aaron and Ashton; his sister Lorraine McPherson; sister-in-law Eileen Rathert; and brother-in-law Allan Poersch; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Wally was predeceased by his beloved wife Alma; his brothers, Harold, Ed and Herb; his mom Louis Rathert; father Henry Rathert; and his grandson Rodney Herkert. Wally was born on April 11, 1925 and was raised on their farm in Starbuck, MB. He spent many years working in construction in Alberta and Saskatchewan, then married Alma and settled in Brunkild where he started his own business, Wally's Water Hauling until he retired. Gail and Carol would like to thank the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital 5B, and the home care team who helped Wally retain his independence and dignity through the last few years. The funeral service will be held at the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brunkild on Monday, April 11, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Kolleen Karlowsky-Clark officiating. Interment will be held at the Brunkild Cemetery. Viewing at the church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to a charity of one's choice.
