EUNICE NEWMAN It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Eunice Newman. Eunice passed away peacefully in her sleep at Hillcrest Place on April 11, 2005 at the age of 94 with her family at her side. Eunice was born in Kirkwall, Scotland in 1911. She came to live in Winnipeg in 1937. It is there she met her husband Les Newman and together they raised three sons. She was a devoted grandma always there to help the grandchildren. She was an immaculate housekeeper. It was often jokingly said you could eat off her floor. No one makes good fudge cake like grandma's, it didn't just taste the same. She will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Bob (Sharon), Kenny (Lisa), Wayne (Sandra); grandchildren, Robert Jr., Patrick Scott (Debbie), Richard (Mandie), Tamara, Jennifer, Stacy and nine great-grandchildren. Sisters-in-law Betty and Rose, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Les in 1992. At Mom's request cremation has taken place. Private family interment for Mom and Dad in St. Vital Cemetery at a later date. A Mother is love , God gave the world stars And then there was beauty, God gave the world sun And then there was warmth, God gave the world rain And then there was life, God gave the world Mothers And then there was love

  • Best Grandma ever, a true flower of Scotland. I would often have tea with her, and she would tell stories of Orkney folklore. Her maiden name was Sutherland, and she was a very proud - strong willed Scottish women. She was a big fan of wrestling, and loved traditional Celtic music. I can't listen to the sound of bagpipes without becoming emotional, to me she was everything Scottish. I miss you Grandma. Bobby Jr. - Posted by: Robert Newman Jr (Grandson) on: Sep 15, 2017
