HAROLD JAMES POYSER Peacefully on Thursday, April 14, 2005 with family and doctor at his side, Harold James Poyser of the R.M. of North Norfolk, MB passed away at the age of 92 years. Funeral service will be held in the MacGregor United Church, MacGregor, MB on Thursday, April 21 at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Quentin Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in Rosehill Cemetery, Rosehill, MB. Harold was born on March 19, 1913, son of the late Albert and Myra Poyser in the Rosehill district, south of MacGregor. After his mother's passing he lived with his grandparents at Austin for three years and attended the Austin School. He returned to the family farm and completed his education at the Chippinghill School. In 1963 he took over the family farm and farmed until his retirement in 1979. In 1988 he moved into MacGregor to reside. In 1998 after suffering a stroke, he moved to live near Austin where he resided with his niece until his passing. Harold was a member of the MacGregor United Church, the Lions Club of Austin and the Assiniboine Wildlife Association. He had a great love of music and played with the Portage Harmonaire's, the Portage Senior's Old Time Fiddlers, Jessie's Gems, The Portage Senior Choir and he played with Harold Wright Orchestra for many years. He enjoyed working in his garden, time spent with his friends and playing cards. He especially enjoyed visiting with all the many travellers across the country that would stop at the Hickory Hollow Hobby Farm. Predeceased by his father Albert; mother Myra; stepmother Ethel; two sisters, Evelyn Radford and Edith Hammond; brother Roland; nephew Ted Radford; niece Marion Radford; stepbrothers, John, Charlie and Ernie Pogue; he leaves to mourn his passing his stepbrother Abe Pogue of Flin Flon; stepsister Netta Butterfield of MacGregor; two stepsisters-in-law, Nellie Pogue of Brandon, Doris Pogue of MacGregor; and 10 nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at the Omega Funeral Home, Portage la Prairie on Wednesday evening, April 20 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. If friends so desire memorial donations may be made in Harold's name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, Catherine Newham-Portage Office, 103 Wilkinson Cres., Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 1A7 or a charity of one's choice.
