TALETA ALVINA PORTH June 1, 1912 - March 28, 2005 Memorial service Monday, May 2 at 10:00 a.m. at Thompson in the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd., Winnipeg. On March 28, 2005 Alvina passed away at the Bethania Personal Care Home. She was predeceased by her parents, Fredrick and Elizabeth Porth (nee Purpur); two brothers, John and Fred Porth, and four sisters, Edith and Elma Porth, Pearl Scott and Mildred Costigane. Alvin is survived by her nephew Don Porth (Janet) Riverton, MB and niece Phyllis Carroll, great nephew Glenn Carroll (Jennifer) all of Bemidji, MN. Alvina was born in Laugham, SK. The family moved to Vermilion, AB shortly after her birth. In 1920 they moved to Winnipeg where Alvina finished high school and began a career as an x-ray technician in 1940. She worked in private clinics and later with the Grace Hospital. In 1963 she moved to the Health Service Commission where she worked for 16 years, retiring in June 1977. Special thanks to Bethania Personal Care Home for their care and attention. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Alvina's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
