IRENE HARRIET PORTER (nee PRIDEAUX) April 5, 1930 - May 4, 2005 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Irene Harriet Porter (nee Prideaux). Irene passed away peacefully at the Riverview Health Centre, One Morley Ave., Winnipeg, on Wednesday, May 4, 2005, after a short battle with cancer. Irene is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Kenneth R. Porter; daughter Debora (of Arborg, MB), son Kenneth jr. (Barbara) of West St. Paul, MB, daughter Sandra (Lyall) Gravel of Grand Marais, MB; granddaughters, Leah (Andrew), Melissa, Stephanie and Kaitlyn and grandson Rick (Leighan). She is also survived by her brother Edward Prideaux; sisters-in-law, Flora Prideaux and Laverne Scott; brothers-in-law, Glenn and John Porter; along with several nieces and nephews. Irene was predeceased by her son Douglas; her parents Alfred Henry and Dorothy Elizabeth Prideaux; brothers, Alfred, George, Arthur and Dennis; and sister Dorothy Purcell. Irene was the youngest daughter born to Alfred and Dorothy Prideaux, formerly of St. Vital, where she attended school. She also lived in and attended school in North End Winnipeg. She married Ken, August 29, 1953, and they lived in St. Vital, Windsor Park, Boissevain, MB, and lately East Kildonan. The family wishes to thank the women from homecare - Rebecca, Kim, Stacey, Lori and Pat; nurses - Gwen, Barb Moon, Anne and Pat; physiotherapist Janette Markham; Dr. Joshua Shadd and the nursing staff of E3 Riverview Health Centre for their care and compassion for Irene in her time of need. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of Mint). Interment to follow in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Irene's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7.
