ELSIE RAVEN (nee JONES) March 15, 1929 - June 18, 2005 With very heavy hearts and great sorrow, our family announces the passing of Elsie Raven at the Grace General Hospital, on Saturday, June 18, 2005, at the age of 76 years. Remaining to cherish her memory are her husband and soul mate of 58 years, Bruce; her loving son Clyde; daughter-in-law Marlynn; treasured granddaughters, Krystal and Kerilee; as well as numerous dear nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Elsie was predeceased by the rest of her entire family - parents, John and Violet Jones; siblings, Jim (Ivy), George (Mary), Doreen (Herb), John (Tess), Albert (Donna), Frank (Eileen), Alice (Wes) and just recently her beloved sister Lily (Dennis). Elsie, who had a generous and caring soul was born on King Edward Street and spent her entire life in sunny St. James. She lived many great years on Collegiate Street with Bruce, bringing up their only son and then later enjoying the retirement years in the Courts of St. James. Elsie's passions included bowling at St. James Lanes with her Wednesday League pals. There she met many lifelong friends who enriched her life. Her bingo nights with the ladies also provided her with many memorable evenings. Elsie's granddaughters were also a true joy in her life and they will miss her dearly, as we all will. A private family graveside service was held in the Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame Ave., with Sgt. Devon Clunis of the Winnipeg Police Service, who officiated. Our family would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Joshua and all the wonderful nurses and caring staff on the 5th Floor of Grace Hospital for their great care of Elsie during her remaining days. Thank you all for your compassion. We would also like to extend a very special thank you to the Palliative Care Nurse, Chris Carlisle for going above and beyond the call of duty every day when Elsie was in her care at home. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations in Elsie's memory may be made to the Cancer Research Society Inc. 305 - 200 Isabella St., Ottawa, ON K1S 1V7 or to Elsie's favourite charity, The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada, 350 St. Mary Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3C 3J2. I'd like the memory of me To be a happy one. I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles When life is done. I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly Down the ways, Of happy times and laughing times And bright and sunny days. I'd like the tears of those who grieve To dry before too long, And cherish those very special memories To which I belong. WOJCIK'S ALL BELIEFS FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM 897 - 4665
