W. J. LONSON PRETTIE August 19, 1932 - June 24, 2005 Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and Friend to many. It is with great sadness that we say good-bye to Pops. After a lengthy and courageous battle with lymphoma, he left us to be with Bev. He is survived by three brothers, Jim, Ray and Bob; and four sisters, Rose, Gerry, Beatrice and Janet. Left to cherish his memory are five children and 11 grandchildren, Candace (Cam), James and Amber; Wendy and son Scott; Lonson Jr. (Roberta) Kevin, Kari-Lynn, Bryce, Stephen and Neil; John and son Adam; and Bill (Elaine) Andrew and Mathew. Many nieces and nephews have fond memories of their Uncle Lon . As well many more that affectionately called him Dad or Pops. Dad's work life entailed many jobs including working the slackline, heavy equipment operator, horse trainer and ferrier, fibreglass boat making, DND driver and making wooden toys. These jobs may have provided an income but his career was being a husband, father and grandfather. His recent hobbies included using his computer for e-mail with family and friends and researching our family tree. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 28 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sobering Funeral Chapel, Park Avenue E., Beausejour. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermott Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or a charity of one's choice.
