ROY THOM October 7, 1920 - July 25, 2005 We sadly announce the passing of our Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather, Roy Thom. Married to his beloved wife Dorothy for 63 years, the couple met in Regina where Roy was working as a Projection Operator. Roy was in the Navy during The Second World War where he taught gunnery classes in Halifax. After Discharge, Roy and Dorothy settled in Regina where he obtained employment as a Projectionist, and an appointed Business Manager of I.A.T.S.E. Local 295, Regina. Roy's knowledge of Saskatchewan's Labour Laws was recognized by the I.A.T.S.E. Head Office in New York and was appointed as an International Representative to head negotiations for Western Canada. From the start of his career Roy had always wanted to become an Owner/Operator of his own motion picture theatre. He realized this dream with the ownership of Swift Current Theatres Ltd., Swift Current, SK. Owner of the Lyric, Drive-Inn, and Cinema Twin theatres, Roy became a respected member of the business community. Roy and Dorothy made Swift Current their home for 15 years before selling and retiring to Oakbank, MB to be closer to family. A proud man, devoted to his family and his work, Roy leaves behind the love and respect of many. He is survived by his devoted wife Dorothy; his loving daughter Judy and husband, John; brothers, Harold (late wife, Ida), and Ken, Fay and family; nephew Doug and wife, Marg; granddaughters, Deanne and husband, Louis, great-grandson, Lucas; Sherri and husband, Jason, great-granddaughter, Madeline, great-grandsons, Aidan and Brady; and Monique and husband, Paul. Many thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Concordia Hospital. A special thank you to Harold, Doug and Marg for their many visits to Roy to cheer his day. A private family service to be announced at a later date. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations in memory of Roy Thom may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3. Peace be with you Grandpa, finally.
