MARY POLLACK (nee KARPINS) November 10, 1922 - August 26, 2005 Peacefully, on Friday, August 26, 2005, at the Concordia Place Care Centre, Mary, aged 82, passed away with her family at her side. Sadly missed, but lovingly remembered, by her daughter Lynda Specht (Garry); stepdaughter Evie Parkhurst (Brian); and her granddaughters, Meg Specht, and Kelly and Kacey Beech. She also leaves her sister Doris; brother Bill; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, loving relatives, and friends. Mary was predeceased by her parents; and her brother Conrad. Mary was born in Sinclair, MB, and spent her young years on the family farm growing up in the Sinclair/Reston Community. When she was old enough, Mary moved to Winnipeg and began working on aircrafts at Air Canada. Later, she worked in the office at Beaver Lumber and then began her career at the T. Eaton Company. Mary had a talent for speaking to the public and began selling small appliances for various companies within the Eaton store, Phillips, Braun, Wiltshire, just to name a few. Her years spent in Eaton's made many lifelong friends. She later went on to work for Hostess Potato Chips with her dear friend Clara Roberts. The two of them were a winning combination and Hostess Snacks became a well-known product throughout Winnipeg. Mom enjoyed being with people and travelling with her family and friends. She had many wonderful times and enjoyed every moment. Her favourite times were dinners with her family and friends. She looked forward to these times in her latter years at Concordia Place. Mary was given the honour of holding the ribbon alongside Premier Gary Doer for the opening of Concordia Place. She was thrilled to be chosen for this event. In keeping with Mary's wishes, a private service has been held at Chapel Lawn. Our family would like to welcome family and friends to a come and go tea in Mom's honour on Wednesday, August 31 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Concordia Place Care Centre, 1000 Molson St. Our family would like to thank so many people at Concordia Place. Thank you to all the staff of Concordia Place that made Mom's life so enjoyable there for the past six years. She was so happy to be with all of you. She often mentioned how comfortable her home was at CP. We would especially like to thank the staff on the fourth floor for being so kind to Mom. You people are all so caring, patient, kind, and considerate. We value each and every one of you so very much. Mom's last two weeks were spent with compassion and love because of all of you. Thank you to Dr. Reghier and Dr. Hamm for such good care for Mom. Thank you also to Chaplain John Friesen for all your prayers, love and time spent with Mom. She loved chapel and would not go out anywhere on the day it was held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children's Wish Foundation, 350 St. Mary Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3C 3J2. We will always love you and miss you Mom and Grandma. WOJCIK'S ALL BELIEFS FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM 897 - 4665
