DORCAS CAROLINE BOOKER (nee MCLAREN) In the peace of Christ on September 8, 2005 at 9:30 p.m., in the presence of her close family, Dorcas left this world and returned to her creator. Dorcas was born the first child of Headley and Monica McLaren at the St. Boniface General Hospital on April 2, 1971. She grew up with siblings, Robert, Jonathan and Rachael. She loved music from a early age and excelled in piano into adulthood. Her appreciation and celebration of music later evolved into a love and passion for song writing, producing and singing. It was always her hope and a part of her mission and mandate on this earth to bring young people to God through her music. To the end of her life she remained a beautiful soul; and memories of her as daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend will forever remain in the hearts and minds of those who were fortunate enough to have known her. She graduated from St. Mary's Academy in 1989 and briefly attended the University of Manitoba when she met and married her true love and devoted husband, Royston Booker a member of the Babbs' family. Dorcas worked as a ward clerk at the St. Boniface General Hospital for many years. She was a diligent, committed and extremely devoted worker and as a result gained the admiration, support and respect of many of her colleagues. Dorcas was an extremely compassionate, empathetic and loving human being who would place the needs of people before her very own. The paradox that existed however was, when she was asked if she had any regrets in life, she responded by stating, I wished that I had loved more. She will be sadly missed by her husband, her children, Keisha and Aneas, numerous family and friends. In her brief trials with an aggressive cancer she gave us all a good example of how a child of God is inspired to have faith, hope, will and endurance during suffering. A big thank you to all doctors and nurses who took care of her in her brief illness, and special thanks to Diana, Dr. Daenick, the staff of 3B, 5B and 5E who worked for her above and beyond their call of duty. Funeral service will be held at the Church of the Rock, 1397 Buffalo (Fort Garry), on Friday, September 16 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Cancer Society of Manitoba. Condolences & Memories (8 entries)

  • I know this is extremely late but I had a dream from my childhood recently that Dorcas was in. It was clearly coming from our childhood memories. I want to express my sincere condolences to her family, friends and loved ones and express how shocked I was when I heard she passed away, way too young and my goodness she grew into a stunningly beautiful woman!!! I hope her children are doing well and just know she will never be forgotten as I knew her from St. Vital days when we were kids and always remembered her to be such a kind person. God bless her and her loved ones, may she rest in peace..... Shannon Koroluk (Victor Wyatt school) childhood friend - Posted by: Shannon koroluk (School friend from childhood) on: Jan 07, 2017
