Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTEVE WABICK August 24, 1919 - September 14, 2005 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather on September 14, 2005 at Fred Douglas Lodge. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Irma; children, Diane (Howard), Kenneth (Susanna), Joseph, and Alison Minaker who was like a daughter to him; grandchildren, Kimberley, Dana and Sabrina Kroetsch, and Stanly Wabick, great-grandchildren, Ericka and Samantha; sisters, Lily and Violet (Val); brother Raymond (Linda), and nieces and nephews. Steve was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Annie; brother John and sisters, Nellie and Irene. Steve was born in Eden, MB on August 24, 1919. As a young man he served with the Canadian Army in Europe in the Second World War where he met his wife of nearly 60 years. On his return to Canada Steve worked on his parents' farm for a few years and then moved to Winnipeg with his little family. He was employed by Westinghouse Canada for 30 years, until his retirement in 1983. He loved fishing and spent many happy summers at the family cottage in Manigotagan, MB. Steve was a kind and gentle man and will be sadly missed, but not forgotten. His family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Hahlweg, and the nurses and staff at Fred Douglas Lodge for their care and compassion, and for making Steve's last days comfortable. According to Steve's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. If you wish to honour Steve's memory, a donation to Fred Douglas Foundation, 586-8541 would be appreciated. Cropo Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
