JACOB KALEN It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Jacob Kalen on September 20, 2005 Jacob was born in Kovnos Lithuania on May 3, 1911, and was the only Holocaust survivor of his large family. After the war, Jacob met and married Rose Naftalovich, his wife of 60 years. Jacob was a Shoemaker, Tailor, Furrier and was employed in the needle trade all his working life. After his retirement, Jacob and Rose very much enjoyed their many trips to Israel, and were supporters of Israeli and Jewish causes. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Rose, son Irvine; granddaughter Lisa and great grandchildren Derrick, Stephan, Lestat and Neesa, dear friends and machatunim. The family wishes to extend its deepest gratitude to all the Homecare workers who helped with their daily living, the volunteers from Meals on Wheels who brought them hot meals every day, Jewish Child and Family Services Older Adult Division and many friends who would drop by to see them on a regular basis. Special thanks to Jack, Lois, Haylee, Sharron, Adeena, Ursula and Louie. Funeral services were held Thursday, September 22, 2005 Donations in Jacob's memory may be made to Congregation Etz Chayim or a charity of your choice.
