MINORU MATSUMOTO 1924 - 2005 With great sadness we announce the passing of our uncle Minoru Matsumoto on Wednesday, October 5, 2005. Uncle Min was born in Vancouver, BC. As the result of Japanese Canadian relocation during The Second World War, Uncle Min first went to an internment camp in the interior of B.C. He was later sent to work in the logging camps in the same province. He eventually went east to Winnipeg to live with his family. Except for the last eight months when Uncle Min was waiting for a nursing home placement, he lived at home. Uncle Min was a member of the Manitoba Buddhist Temple. He is survived by his nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephew: Carol, Glenn (Joyce) great-nieces Kristen and Stacey; Sherri, Joyce Minsky (Darrell) great-nieces Hope, Grace and Faith; and Brent (June) great-niece Chelsea, and great-nephew Devon. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Shigeo and Misao and sister Iwao. Uncle Min was a proud independent man who loved the simple things in life: His family, Baseball especially the Goldeyes who he loved to see in person, bowling, watching wrestling and bingo. Even with his slight build he always enjoyed eating, especially traditional Japanese food. He enjoyed getting together with his family, especially looked forward to seeing the younger great nieces and nephew and spending time with the family dogs: Toby, Yuki and Buddy. He was a man that was liked by all that met him as he always had a friendly smile and Hi for everyone. Always very polite he thanked people for anything they did for him. Never complaining and never saying an unkind word he was a favourite among the doctors, nurses and receptionists he met. Dedicated, he worked for over 40 years never missing a day of work. He always supported us during difficult times in our lives and often asked us how our friends and their families were doing. Special thanks to Dr. Chin and Dr. Woo for the care they extended to him over the years. Thank-you to the doctors and nurses of D4 Health Science Centre for the care they extended to him. Cremation has taken place, a memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 11 at 1:00 p.m. at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook Street. Flowers graciously declined, if desired, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Manitoba Schizophrenia Society.
