ERNST (ERNIE) MARTENS Ernie passed away in his sleep at home on October 15, 2005. Ernie was born in the Ukraine on May 15, 1923. In 1941, he moved to Germany where he met Waltraud, his wife of 59 years. In 1947, they, along with their six month old daughter came to Canada to start a new life. Ernie made many friends through his work in the pre-stressed concrete industry and in his personal life. He was happiest spending time with family and friends. The family has many cherished memories of weekend trips, days at the beach and summer vacations. He will be sadly missed by his wife Waltraud; his children, Monika (Art), Werner (Linda), Christa (Len), Rick (Cathy); his grandchildren, Brenda (Wayne), Kurt (Amy), Kristy (Colin), Lisa, Hayley, Brandon and his great-grandson Cole. Good-bye, we miss you! In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice. A service will be held Thursday, October 20 at 11:00 a.m. at the Klassen Funeral Home.
