MELBA JULIA PHILLIPS Peacefully, on October 21, 2005 at the Health Sciences Centre, Melba passed on with her family by her side. Mel was born at Poplar Park, MB on August 6, 1923. She married Lorne Phillips on October 21, 1940. Lorne and Mel were married in Selkirk and after the war they resided in Winnipeg, where they raised their family. Lorne passed on in 1967. Mel retired from Canada Post in 1987. She loved to travel. Her adventures took her throughout Canada, the USA and Europe. For the past 18 years, our snowbird always looked forward to her winter vacation at the son's home in San Diego, CA. Our Mom enjoyed the many good times spent participating at the various social events at Columbus House, her home for the past 8 years. Mom loved her role as Mother, Grandma and Great-Grandma. She taught us the true meaning of love and family. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Lorne (Gladys), Truro, NS, daughter Janice Mann (Ron), son David (Judy) San Diego, CA, daughter Susan. Also by her grandchildren, LJ, Calgary, AB and Sheri Phillips, Ronda and Ken (Martina) Mann, Burley (Michelle) Chico, CA, Jeff (Krissey) and Craig Phillips, San Diego, CA and great-grandchildren, Jeff Jr., Anthony and Kayla Phillips, CA and Alexis Mann. She will also be remembered by her sister Ola Astrope and sister-in-law Anna Phillips and her numerous nieces and nephews. Also by her special niece Nadine Evans and family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Manitoba. Our family would like to thank the staff of the Sherbrook Dialysis Unit and staff on GH4, Health Sciences Centre for the kindness and care extended to our Mother. Our Mother's heart was kind and loving. She will be truly missed. A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 27, 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Ave. Arrangements entrusted to: VOYAGE FUNERAL HOME CREMATORIUM 220 Hespeler @ Henderson Hwy. 668-3151
