ANNE LEDOHOWSKI (nee ZASITKO) It is with great sadness, that the family announces the peaceful passing of their beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother on Sunday, October 23, 2005, surrounded by her family. Anne was born in High Plains, MB, to Panko and Mary Zasitko on January 14, 1923. She attended school and helped her parents on the farm and with younger children until her marriage. In 1940 she married the love of her life, Walter Ledohowski. They moved to Poplarfield, MB, to operate a transfer business. In 1947, they acquired the Coronation Hotel in Poplarfield which they operated for seven years, followed by six years of farming. In 1960, they resumed their interest in the hotel business by purchasing a hotel in Broadview, SK. They then acquired the Yorkton Hotel in Yorkton, SK, and along with their sons, operated the hotel for 15 years. In 1979, they moved to Winnipeg where they and their sons continued successfully in the hotel and motel industry continuing under Ledohowski Hotels Ltd. After a few years, Walter retired, leaving his sons to operate the hotel business which then became Hospitality Corporation of Manitoba, and also branched out to the Best Western Cedar Park in Edmonton and the Greenwood Inns chain in Western Canada. Anne continued to be active at Hospitality Corporation in the Accounts Payable Department until retiring in 1993. Hospitality Corporation has since evolved into what we know today as Canad Inns and Canad Corporation. Left to mourn her passing are her six children: four sons, Ben (Janet), Leo (Joanne), Chris (Angela), Ron (Vanessa); and two daughters, Jane (Bud) and Carol (Don); fourteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Also left to miss and remember her are three sisters, Helen (Bill), Lovey (Bill), Theresa (Norman); sister-in-law (Mary); and many nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends. Anne was predeceased by her husband Walter in 1987; baby brother Bohdan in 1932; father Panko in 1982, mother Mary in 1984; brothers, Steve in 1986 and Bill in 2000. Anne was a kind, loving, and hard working person whose world revolved around her family. She loved her family dearly and was the happiest when she was with them cooking big dinners for family gatherings when in better health. She enjoyed gardening, tending her flowers, traveling, needlework and always keeping busy. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and loving sister. She will be greatly missed by all. To know her is to love her. Special thanks to the kind and gentle care provided by the staff of the Maples Personal Care Home. Viewing and prayers will be held on Wednesday, October 26 at 7:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 27 at 10:00 a.m. also at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home with interment to follow. Pallbearers will be her four sons: Ben, Leo, Chris, Ron and her two grandsons, Lane and Aaron Ledohowski. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons: Dean Miskiman, Mark, Michael and Mathew Ledohowski. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Anne's memory to CancerCare MB, 675 McDermot Avenue, Wpg., MB R3E 0V9. Mother Who worked so hard and saved so long, For what we have today, And any time would sacrifice, Her chance to rest or play. Who always saw her children have, The things she did without, And gave so much unselfishly. For that's what love's about. Who sought no honours and rewards, For all that she had done, Except to raise a family, To her, the very finest one. Though we cannot evaluate Our Mom , her love, her worth, To us she'll always be Just Mom The greatest Mom on earth. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE 885-9715 Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.chapellawn.mb.ca
