Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMALVINA CHIMCHAK With her family at her side, Malvina passed away from this earth on Monday October 24, 2005, into the arms of Jesus and everlasting life. She will be lovingly missed by her mother Mary, sister Anne (Ken) Maskell, nephews Michael (Susanne) Maskell and Craig (Suzanne) Maskell; and their children Natalie and Christopher. She was predeceased by her father, Michael, in 2004. Malvina had many friends and she wants them to know that she loved them all. Nearest and dearest to her heart were her two cats, Lucy and Nikki. Malvina was born in Mariampol, Poland on May 22, 1939, but by August 1939 her parents, Michael and Maria and her sister Anne arrived in Canada and settled in the Winnipeg Beach area. Malvina had her early education at Plum Ridge School and Teulon Collegiate. In 1956 she moved to Winnipeg probably looking for Mr. Right , and office work. She was successful in finding office work but not Mr. Right . After a number of years of office work, Malvina had a thirst for knowledge and something more challenging. In 1968 Malvina started her studies at the University of Winnipeg. She graduated in 1971 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. In 1972 she received an Education Certificate from the University of Manitoba. In 1972, Malvina found employment with the Federal Government, a job she found demanding, challenging and very rewarding. She retired in 1997 from the Department of Human Resources Development Canada. Malvina had a very curious mind and a sense of adventure. Over the years she trekked in Nepal, Tanzania, Spain and Italy. Other places that she visited and enjoyed were a number of Caribbean islands, England, France, Germany, Portugal, and China. Other cultures were always of great interest to her. In her retirement, she spent her time gardening, volunteering, leading a book club at Creative Retirement, curling, bicycling and power walking. Prayers will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2005 at 8:30 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anthony's of Padua (W.K.), 250 Burrin Ave. Winnipeg, on Friday October 28, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Msgr. Michael Moore as celebrant. Interment will be at Holy Ghost Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the staff on GD6 at the Health Sciences Centre for the wonderful care and compassion provided to Malvina during her illness and for the care and comfort offered to both family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Malvina's memory to the Leukemia Society or the Winnipeg Humane Society. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
