STEVE SHUMLAK On October 26, 2005 at St. Adolphe Personal Care Home, Steve Shumlak passed away at the age of 87 years. Steve lived in LaBroquerie most of his life. Surviving the Great Depression, the Dirty Thirties, and The Second World War; he returned to his first love, the land and farming. Farming all of his life, gave Steve much happiness and contentment. This resulted in making many friends and acquaintances. As with all farmers, he was always willing to help strangers and friends at a moments notice. Steve's criticism of hog farming is well known. He was truly an outspoken opponent of hog farming and the resulting pollution. He penned many letters to federal and provincial agencies regarding same. Steve's parents, brother Walter, and sister Olga have all passed on. He is survived by his brothers children, Dorothy, Marion, Michael and Brian. Many friends and neighbours will long remember; but mourn Steven's passing. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 2 at noon at All Saints Cemetery, 4535 Main St., Wpg. After the graveside service, a celebration of Steve's life will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Special thanks to the entire staff at St. Adolphe P.C.H. for their excellent care.
