GREGOIRE E. TRUDEAU Born November 27, 1925; died Friday, October 28, 2005 after a five-year struggle with ALS. Gregoire will be sadly missed by his sister Gabrielle and husband Hector Dugas; his brother Fernand and wife Rita (Lanthier); his sister-in-law Helena (Audette); his sister, Soeur Simone Trudeau sjsh, of Lorette; his brother Arthur and wife Laurette Bergeron of Gatineau, QC and many nephews and nieces. Gregoire was predeceased by his parents, Paul Trudeau and Laurette d'Auteuil; his brother Augustin; his sister Soeur Cecile Trudeau, sjsh and his brother Simon. Born in Ile des Chenes, Gregoire's early years were spent on the family farm. In 1957, he moved with his parents to the village and began to work at the Pool Elevators in St. Boniface until his retirement in the mid 1980s. He was an active member of the community. Gregoire joined the local chapter of the Knights of Columbus in 1957. He was involved for numerous years in the Catholic organization of Development and Peace. After his retirement, he traveled across Canada to visit with relatives and friends. They will remember him for his congeniality and his sense of humour. He remained at home during the first years of his lengthy struggle with this devastating disease and moved to Foyer Valade two years ago. He was a symbol of grace and faced his illness with a great deal of courage. He is at peace at last. The family would like to thank all those who have been so supportive throughout his illness. A special thank you is extended to the community home care givers and to the staff of Foyer Valade for their dedication and love. Also, we would like to acknowledge the ALS Society of Manitoba for their support and friendship. Prayer vigil will be held at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 DesMeurons on Thursday, November 3 at 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the Notre-Dame-de-la-Misericorde Church at Ile des Chenes, on Friday, November 4 at 1:30 pm. Interment to follow in the parish cemetery.
