GRACE ELLEN RONNANDER (nee BLACK) January 17, 1924 - November 11, 2005 Grace was born January 17, 1924; the eldest daughter and second of six children born to David and Alma Black. Grace was predeceased by husband Andy; siblings, Wilf, Lillian and Jim. She leaves to cherish her memory sisters, Anne (Herb) Douglas, Jean (Ken) Christie; in-laws, Margaret Black and Paul Raike and many nieces, nephews and friends. Especially close were nieces, Bev (Don) Potter and family, Calla (Greg) Lofvendahl and Marg Ronnander-Hewitt and family. Her childhood was spent on a farm near Oakburn, MB. Grace attended school in Oakburn and completed her grade 12 with a scholarship. The family moved to Winnipeg. After attending Business College in Winnipeg, she worked for Monarch Life Assurance Co. and Moore Business Forms. Her passion for music blossomed in those years. She and her sisters were involved in many church and community choirs, music festivals and other choral competitions. Grace married Andrew Ronnander in 1955 and lived in Charleswood for many happy years. She and Andy were devoted to each other. They enjoyed many holidays in Mexico and the southern United States. In later years, they divided their time between homes in Palacious, TX and Clearwater Bay, ON. They later returned to reside in Westwood. Grace was an avid reader, gardener, golfer and seamstress. Her skills in needlepoint, cross-stitch, crewel and sewing are treasured by recipient relatives. Beside her passion for music, Grace loved crosswords and history. She spent years tracing the family tree. The family wishes to thank the many health care professionals on Misericordia Cornish 6 for their kindness and loving care. A family interment will take place at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. A service to celebrate the life of Grace will take place at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 16 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Personal remembrances are welcomed and encouraged. A reception will follow at the Chapel Lawn Reception Centre. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations in Grace's memory may be made to Misericordia Health Centre Foundation, 99 Cornish Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3C 1A2 or charity of your choice.
